The Outarinn! (been a while since my last drawing lol 8'D)
So I might as well re-paste their info.

| ' The Otarinn are SENTIENT and as intelligent as nyxians. They have five fingers and five toes, though some exceptions have six, or even rarer, seven. Their toes and fingers have webbing, and they appear closely related to either cats or giant river otters, but genetically they are unique.

Their short, main body fur is THICK and soft, and has a shine to it like oil. It's said this species smells rather pleasant, like fresh meadows and springs. The Otarinn come in a variety of colors, mostly mamilian colors but also reaching into the greens, blues, violets and other shades.They have markings from calico to spots, stripes, streaks, complex or simple markings and patterns. They ALWAYS have some unique-to-individual marking on their faces, symmetrical. These markings glow, and are sometimes the color of the glowing tear-drops on the tips of their whiskers.

Their eyes are reflective like a cats, and slitted coming in almost all colors (except pink.) and see just as well, making them great hunters of fish, shellfish, small animals and even deer if they stray too close to water. While the Otarin are quite comfortable being 'wild' in appearance, meaning they can walk on all fours , they actually can and do stand bipedal.
They can speak very well, a mix of physical and mental voice at the same time. Oddly enough, they have four nasal passages, making their sense of smell very good- even underwater. (Sekaien water is not like earth, it is breathable.) Their innumerable whiskers make them very adept to dark places, the tips brightly lit from within at will. These wisps as they call them, are longer and more flowing in females, and shorter in males, with less flowing quality. They posses a sort of dew-lap from their chins to their chest, which have thicker, longer fur. The color here is always a brighter shade, (except in albinos and melanistic 'black' individuals).

They have manes from their foreheads all the way to the tip of the tail, and underbelly 'mane' that isn't usually too long but can be in odd individuals. The ends of their tails are broad and paddle like, though thick fur covers this as welll, longest on the bottom, giving them a koi-like flowing tail. Their whiskers are placed on the muzzle, much like a cat, the eyebrows, and from there, along the mane and down the spine, down the tail, and fanning along the sides of the tail 'fluke'. SOME oddballs posses more whiskers sprouting from their sides and shoulders, though this isn't known why.
Otarinn have long, fennec-cat like ears that they can swivel in most directions, and long, decorative tufts grow along the edges.

The same sort of tufting appears from the backs of their shoulders all the way to their wrists, and from the shin to their heels on their feet. Otarinn live mostly near rivers and waterways, ponds, and even the sea. They could spend their entire lives under water, but most choose to exist on land. As strange as it may seem, the Otarinn actually posses enough intelligence to have a government of sorts, and reasonable technology, though it isn't too advanced. They make their homes amongst the hollows of sekaien trees. In the distant past, humans, ignorant as always, hunted the Otarinn to near extinction.

The species suffered greatly and for a long time were thought to be extinct. It was possibly with the help of Nyxians (Sen particularly) and Ayricen (bipedal gryphon race) That this species even survived. They have a population of about eight thousand, which still isn't good but isn't dead. They have a gentle personality generally, but are quite like a feline. All in all, a very odd species. Most live in the southern continents, a few in the north and out in the sea, and a very very secluded group in the farthest north, icy arctic lands. ' It is thought that a symbiosis has occurred between the Outarinn and the Ayricen, and since the populations of both have grown to new heights. - From the lost journals of Anjiru. |
